What launch directories actually give you

Most launch directories promise a backlink. Whether you get one depends on details that are easy to miss: a badge, an upvote score, the plan you picked. We read the listing pages themselves and counted.

"Dofollow" means at least one link to the product's own site without nofollow, sponsored or ugc. Samples are spread evenly over each directory's sitemap and mix free and paid listings. The free-listing column summarises each directory's pricing page; the exact quotes are on each directory's page here.

How to read this

  • A split result (some dofollow, some not) usually means the link depends on a plan or a condition. Open the directory's page here to see what its pricing page says.
  • Where a listing links to the product more than once with different rel values, we count it as dofollow if at least one link is followed.
  • A noindex listing page gives no backlink, whatever the link's rel says.
  • These are observations of public pages on one date, not a ranking. Directories change their rules; we re-check about once a month.
CHECK YOUR OWN LISTING
  1. Open your listing page and view the page source.
  2. Find the link to your site. Read its rel attribute.
  3. Search the source for noindex.
  4. Check again in a month: links change when a badge is removed or a plan ends.

On LaunchReceipt every listing page shows this as a receipt, re-checked on a schedule. List your product or run the free launch check.

Questions

What is the difference between dofollow, nofollow and sponsored?
A plain link (often called dofollow) can pass ranking signals to your site. rel="nofollow", rel="sponsored" and rel="ugc" tell search engines not to count the link as an endorsement. A directory listing is still useful for discovery with any of them, but only a followed link on an indexable page is a backlink in the SEO sense.
Why do listings on the same directory get different links?
Because the link usually depends on the plan or on a condition: a badge on your site, a number of upvotes, a top-3 finish, or a paid tier. Our samples are taken evenly across each directory, so they mix free and paid listings; the split shows how often a listed product ends up with a followed link.
How were these numbers measured?
We took listing pages evenly from each directory's own sitemap, fetched each page once, and read two things from the HTML: the robots directives of the page and the rel attribute of the link to the listed product's own site. 258 pages across 26 directories, last checked 2026-10-18.
How can I check my own listing?
Open the listing page, view the page source and find the link to your site. If its rel attribute contains nofollow, sponsored or ugc, it is not a followed link. Then look for a robots meta tag with noindex: a noindex page gives no backlink at all, whatever the link says.
Something here is out of date or wrong. How do I get it fixed?
Write to support@launchreceipt.com with the listing page that shows it. We re-check about once a month and correct errors as soon as we can confirm them.
