LaunchReceiptBot
LaunchReceiptBot is the fetcher behind LaunchReceipt. It identifies itself asLaunchReceiptBot/0.1 (+https://launchreceipt.com/bot) and never pretends to be a browser.
What it fetches
- Launch checks. When someone runs the free launch check on a URL, we fetch that page once, plus the site's robots.txt and sitemap.
- Listings. For products listed on LaunchReceipt we re-fetch the product's homepage to review a submission, to look for our badge, and for the weekly check of monitored sites.
- New launches. For products that launch publicly, we may visit the product's own homepage and up to two contact or about pages to find a published general contact address (see the privacy policy).
- Directory checks. For the directory comparison we fetch a handful of public listing pages per directory, about once a month, and read only the robots directives and the link attributes.
How it behaves
- Plain HTTP GET requests; it does not run scripts, log in or submit forms.
- At most one request per second to a site, a few pages per visit, and a 2 MB limit per page.
- It follows robots.txt for contact lookups and directory checks. A launch check that a person runs fetches the one page they entered.
Blocking it or being removed
To keep it out, add this to your robots.txt:
User-agent: LaunchReceiptBot Disallow: /
